NEW PATTERN ALERT! Introducing... The Mimi Bikini

Posted on

I have been soooo excited to release this pattern! This is my first bikini pattern and it was a love affair from the start. This was one of those patterns I just HAD to make straight away. Some of my patterns sit in my book for AGES while I ponder on them and wonder if I'll ever get round to making them, but these I literally dropped everything for.

If you've followed me for a while you may have noticed that this happens. I get very easily distracted by new ideas and the tediousness of all the computer stuff (digitising pattern pieces, creating instruction booklets, writing instructions.... etc.) often means I procrastinate when it comes to finishing patterns off. The amount of half complete patterns I have just sitting on my computer that are literally so close to being ready... anyhow..

It was a breath of fresh air to have a pattern completed and released so quickly! I did have 'summer is coming... summer is coming.. summer is coming...' going round and round in my head which probably helped speed things along.

So the pattern is available as a whole set of course which you can purchase from my Etsy shop here

or if you fancy just making the top, that is also available to purchase here.

I have also been busy creating a selection of scuba kits for this pattern which are available in my Etsy shop.

There are a few video tutorials on my YouTube channel that you may find useful when sewing this pattern, along with a full tutorial coming soon! I also have a bunch of pattern hack ideas for this pattern which I'm super excited to share with you so don't forget to subscribe to my channel so you can check them out when I release them.

This is an introduction to swimwear if you are not already familiar with the fabrics and notions you need and how they differ to lingerie supplies.

I have also done a tutorial on sewing swimwear straps which goes over two different methods which may be useful when creating your halter straps for this pattern.

If cut out bikini bottoms are not your thing, why not mix and match? I have another tutorial on my YouTube channel that shows you how you can make any basic pantie pattern into bikini bottoms using my free high waist pattern that you can download here

I think a pair of Frankie Panties would also work out great with this top using this tutorial!

The swimwear obsession continues I'm afraid and I have another two bikini/swimsuit patterns that I plan to release this summer. Along with a kimono pattern and two bra patterns. One of which is fast approaching eight different ways to sew it... all different styles which is basically a whole collection in itself.     So.   Much.  Work.    But that one at least is almost complete!

My wedding and honeymoon fast approaches so we'll see how much time I have over the next couple of months. I'm really hoping to get some time for some selfish sewing so I can sew up an entire me made bikini collection for my honeymoon! Bali baby! I've been looking through my patterns and there are soooo many that would be great for a me made holiday collection. My Sophia cami, Camille French knickers, my up coming Shirley kimono.. Lottie panties.. Maxine high waist panties... My sleep masks for traveling.. and of course my new Mimi bikini! I can't wait to get stuck in!

Anyway that's enough waffle for one day. Back to work! Let's do this!
