A cozy little round up

It may seem a little strange having a ‘round up of the year’ style post as my first ever blog post. It is strange, but this is something that has been on my never ending ‘to do list’ for a long time and while in a reminiscent mood, I thought this would be the perfect time to find my voice. I think it’s good, healthy even, to sit back and have a good look and the things you have achieved in the last year as you reach the end of it. Its easy to get wrapped up (pun intended) in the day to day running of a business and obsessing over every little detail. Little things can get you down, tired or frustrated so it can be a real positive thing to look at the bigger picture.

This time last year I had no digital sewing patterns. No printed patterns.. No supplies shop. No kits of course.. No YouTube channel… No Instagram… No Etsy shop (not my Evie la Luve DIY one anyway!).. A lot can change in a year. This time last year I had sold only about 3 knicker making kits (my first ever Evie la Luve products!)

This year for me has finally felt like everything I have worked at since about the age of 14 is paying off and slotting into place. I feel like I am using everything I have ever learned and loved. I think that’s what makes it so rewarding.

I’ve never been afraid of a big work load, in fact I love it. I can honestly say I am 100% self employed and this has been my ambition for as long as I can remember. While my entire work load isn’t limited to Evie la Luve I have managed to become self sufficient through it by doing freelance work for a number of other pattern companies. This is more than I ever could have hope for.

Highlights for me this year have been launching my YouTube channel. I never though I would enjoy being in front of the camera so much, as I am usually behind it!

Getting my kits and patterns in shops has also been incredible. People want to pay me real money for something I have created! Is there any bigger compliment I ask you?!

Your feedback, comments and photos of your makes with my patterns is also THE BEST. You guys are the best. The sewing community is so kind, supportive, willing to share skills.. and teach and help each other.. I LOVE it.

So when I sit back and look at the bigger picture.. it makes it harder to get caught up and frustrated with the little things…

Here’s to next year and the many things I have planned in the new year!

Have a blast this holiday season.  xo
